Yes, you read that right.

RuthfulTech has been named the Most Inspirational Tech/Career Blog of 2026.

I'm still processing it, honestly. Moments like this force me to do something I'm terrible at, stopping long enough to actually see how far I've come.

This blog started as a simple idea: share everything I knew about switching careers. I had so many people around me desperate to escape jobs that no longer served them, and I wanted to be a resource. Somewhere along the way, it became something much bigger, a space where I've documented my journey from junior to mid-level software engineer, the highs, the lows, the life lessons, everything in between.

As someone who genuinely loves writing, this blog has been therapeutic. And it's almost surreal that nearly 1,000 of you have chosen to come along for the ride. And now? To be recognised for this little corner of the internet? Amazing doesn't quite cover it.

So... what even is this blog?

If you're new here and thinking "okay but why is this award-winning?", fair question. Let me walk you through the values that sit underneath every single post.

Not Afraid of Hard Work

We're not here for shortcuts. We're visionaries, people who are proactive about building a life they're proud of. That means having a vision, writing it down, making it plain, and doing everything in our power to move towards it.

Holistic by Design

When I first started reading tech blogs, I noticed they were very mechanical. Very technical. Which makes sense! But, maybe it's the pharmacist in me, I've always been drawn to the humanness in things. The feelings. So I brought that here. We talk about the limiting beliefs that stop people from changing careers. We talk about the emotional rollercoaster of hitting a bug at 4pm on a Friday. We go there. Not to dwell, not to play victim, but because understanding our emotions is the first step to rising above them.

Mindset is Everything

Your thoughts shape your attitude. Your attitude shapes your actions. Your actions shape your character. Your character shapes what you achieve. That's the chain. So here, we work on reframing what success looks like, dismantling limiting beliefs, and showing up for ourselves, even when it's hard.

Fun is Non-Negotiable

One of the companies I interviewed at listed fun as a core value, and I completely get it. What's the point of big goals and a great mindset if you can't enjoy the journey? My entire career change was rooted in wanting to actually like my 9-to-5. So no, I don't believe fun is something you save for weekends or retirement. Find what genuinely fuels you, and if you can't find it, create it.

We're Playing a Bigger Game

This community thinks beyond the job title, beyond the salary bump. We're building lives. We're thinking about legacy, impact, and what it means to show up fully, in work and beyond.

If you've been on this journey with me, no matter when you joined, thank you. From the bottom of my heart. I hope and pray I continue to do you justice with the advice, resources, and encouragement you need to live your best life and build a fulfilling career.

And if you're new here and any of this resonates with you, welcome. Come join us as we become the embodiment of these values, together.

Until next time,

Ruth
